In this episode, we talk about racquets. Specifically we discuss the things in racquets that impact power such as weight and stiffness. There’s some talk of how a racquet might cause pain for one player but not another, as well as some of the technological development (or lack thereof) in racquets since the 1980s.
In the last part we talk about the “low trophy” in the serve – where a player keeps the hand and racquet low in an effort to engage the bounce reflex in external rotation. There’s some discussion of the impact this has on shoulder health and longevity.
